Mo Regalado Voice Over and Commercial Production Services

Well…I did it, gentle reader.

I started my own production company.

Sigh.  It’s super scary putting your voice out there for the whole world to see…er, I mean hear.   I mean, it’s not like my voice hasn’t been heard before…because it has.  I was a News Director for 3 years…so I had a large audience who heard my voice ALL the TIME when I lived in Arizona.

But that is neither here nor there.

I started working for an online company and they accepted my work, right off the bat!  Woohoo!  And then, my equipment got jacked up and they rejected my reads. (Totally understandable given the circumstances, but it wasn’t until the 2nd rejection that I figured out something was wrong with my equipment!)  Boooo!  Well, then of course we figured out what the problem was…YAY!  But they still rejected my read even though the audio clarity was perfect.  BOOOOO!  I still have yet to hear from this company if they will accept work from me again.

So, now I am back in the marketplace…looking for work.  Taking odd jobs here and there…

So here’s the sad truth: There are many folks out there who do what I do.  And they will often take work cheaply just to get a gig.  Am I to do the same?  Sigh…decisions, decisions.   I mean in all actuality, I can produce a well scripted commercial :30 in an hour or less.  Less talking, means less time.  It just depends on the subject matter.  But there are folks willing to take a 500 word script for $5.  WHAT?!?!?  That is a whole heckuva lot of words for a little bit of pay!   And yes gentle reader, that is a heckuva lot of work too!

I have a goal set right now of how much I want to  be making…and when I should be making it by. In this day and age and economy…is that even realistic?  Who knows, who knows.

Pray for me gentle reader!  And if you are out there looking for work too…know I am praying for you as well! 🙂

Blessings be on you today!

Taking a GIANT Leap of Faith!

I feel like I should totally have music playing in the background…you know, epic, ground-shaking music.  But alas, the internal music player in my head cannot be programmed into my computer (though I am sure someone is working on it).

I took the leap, gentle reader…and I am going back into business for myself.

Here’s my website:

It’s nothing fancy, but I think it will do the job.

So now…it’s a social media blitz.  Ahhh…the joys of being in business for one’s self.  And the irony is not lost on me.  I am making commercials for other people so they can publicize their product or business…and yet I need the same service myself.

Ahhh, the vagaries of life!

Going into Business

I’m trying to decide if I should once again go into business for myself.

I have my studio set up.  My sound is good.  My experience is there.

I have resources up the wazoo…but…

It’s the getting started that scares the Bejesus out of me.

What if I fail?  What if it’s a whole lot of money invested…for a whole lot of nothing?

I am confident in my abilities.  I am good with my surroundings.

Sigh.  Making decisions is never easy.  Spending money is never easy.

Plus, this whole sequestration and losing 40% of our pay is starting to wear on me.  Like, really.

Yesterday, I was in a bad mood.  No reason.  Just in a bad mood.  And I could not get out of it.  It really sucked.

Today is a better day…but I am struggling with thoughts of pay and money…and feeling like I HAVE TO GET SOMETHING IN PLACE BEFORE OUR PAY GETS CUT!!!!!

Gentle reader…we are looking at losing over $2000.00 per month.  With reducing some things, I can cut out about $800.00 from our budget.  (Getting rid of Dish Network and getting rid of our savings…sigh.)  But that still leaves us with a $1200.00 short fall.

Sigh.  My husband has worked hard to get where he’s at and works hard everyday.  I know we are blessed with what we have…and I am SOOOOO thankful we can still give where we feel we can!  Praise the Lord for that!

And I am not being facetious, gentle reader.  We will continue to give.  It’s not our money anyway.  It’s His.  We are where we are because of Him.  All the glory and honor go to Him.

So, that being said…to Him I will continue to turn my countenance.  Look for His face in all things.  And once again cling tight to the promise given us in Jeremiah 29:11. (paraphrasing gentle reader)

For I know the plans I have for you, Plans to prosper you and not harm you…

Amen and Amen for those words.
