Book Review: Real Life Real Miracles by James Garlow and Keith Wall

Unknown-1Real Life Real Miracles by James Garlow and Keith Wall was an excellent read.  It is amazing to me to read stories about folks who are everyday and ordinary just like me who have had extraordinary things happen to them.

While most folks might chalk it up to providence…it is clear, that the Master’s hands are involved in all these amazing miracles.

The one that strikes me the most…and stuck with me, was the first story about Shari Peterson who was on United Flight 811.  This was the flight that was heading to Sydney from Honolulu.  Shari boards the plane to find a man sitting in her seat.  He is adamant that he does not want to leave his(her) seat.  So she sits in another seat.  Shortly after take off…half of the plane is completely gone.  The man in the seat is no longer there.  A voice tells Shari to hold on.  And she does.  The pilot limps the plane back to Hawaii.  And she and other’s survive.  This is a very simplistic view of this story.  You have to read…and the others to really get what I am talking about.

I know what it is like to have God touch your life.  I remember being at church and praying.  Crying out to God because I am such a sinner and how could he forgive me?  How was I going to get to heaven when I have done so much that goes against what He has commanded us.  Literally, I was balling in church.  Heaving silent sobs, my face wet with tears.  I kept asking God if I was one of His chosen ones.  Was I worth His love?

Still sobbing, I felt a hand touch my shoulder.  It was a big, heavy hand.  It gave my right shoulder a gentle squeeze.  A comforting squeeze.  When I turned around there was no man there.  There was no one behind me.  I was was stunned.  And then and there…I knew God was for me.  It is a memory, an experience I cherish.  In my heart I heard the words, “You are chosen.”  Nothing more, nothing less…but ah, gentle reader…so much for this sinner’s heart.

Anyway, I totally digress once again.  If you want a great read for any time of year…one that will make you believe in miracles and how God is working in ordinary lives…then this is for you.  If you don’t think God is working miracles anymore…then this is also for you!  His hand is in everything He is touching.  Maybe He is touching your life and you just don’t realize it.  There is no coincidence.  There is no happenstance.  Just God and His hand…Amen for that! 🙂

I was sent this book by Bethany House Publishers and I did not have to give it a favorable review…but I really liked it, so I did!

Review: Angels, Miracles and Heavenly Encounters by James Stuart Bell

Angels, Miracles and Heavenly Encounters–Real life Stories of Supernatural Events  compiled by James Stuart Bell was a fascinating read.  It reminded me of some of the Chicken Soup for the Soul books in that the format is short stories written by other people.  The stories are easy to read and while the scope of the book does not differentiate between stories (stories are not lumped together in categories), it is easy to follow.

I thoroughly enjoyed this compilation of short stories about how angels, demons and God have touched peoples live.  I fully believe there is a spiritual war going on right now, especially in this age of Internet and instant access to all sorts of information (both good and bad).  Oh, gentle reader, I need to go back to grammar school because I am quite sure that was a HUGE run-on sentence!

Honestly, I had a hard time putting this book down.  Some stories hit close to home while others were remarkable!  I was constantly reminded in my heart and in my mind to pray, and pray without cease.  I am sure there are other instances in the Bible where this thought or action has been mentioned but I am specifically speaking of 1 Thessolonians 16-18:

(16) Rejoice Always,

(17) pray continually,

(18) give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

As I read this book, I found myself praying for my family and for my loved ones.  My heart was prompted to pray for others that I have heard about or that I passed in chance that asked for prayer.

If you feel your heart crying out for more, then I would whole heartedly tell you to pick up this book and give it a go.  You won’t go wrong.  And it just might open your eyes to the supernatural warfare that is going on every single day in the lives of those around you and the world.

Blessings Be friends!  😉
