Sensational Movies…
There’s a movie that has come out about the drug cartels. I can’t think of the name right now, but it’s the one with Selma Hayek, John Travolta and Benicio del Toro. All of them are fine actors, but I wonder why they would agree to do a movie like this? Controversy, maybe? Possibly to get a national dialogue going…but alas gentle reader, this is a daily dialogue in my realm.
In one of the ads I saw for it, the voice over guy claimed it was the “Scarface” of its time. What a load of crap. “Scarface” is a classic…and this movie is just crap.
Having lived the last 20 years of my life indirectly affected by drug and human smuggling I am deeply saddened that someone in Hollyweird thought it would be a good idea to make a movie about this type of crime. Based on the trailers for the movie, it glorifies sex, drugs, fast cars and mind-numbing violence.
NEWS FLASH! Real people die. Real people are kidnapped. Real people are threatened. Real people are sold into slavery every single freaking day! This is not a joke, morons! Real people put their lives on the line every single day of the year to protect other people’s stupidity.
The cartels are only getting more violent. They are more vicious than ever before and they do not care about our laws or our sovereign nation. They only care about themselves and the money that lines their pockets. The do not care who they step on, who they kill or the lives they destroy. Case in point. In Agua Prieta, back in 2004/2005 there was an elderly couple involved with the smuggling trade there. Somewhere along the way they did something that pissed the cartel off. Federales (Mexican Police) found them with their tongues cut out and their faces half scraped off. Do you think they were dead before or after their tongues were cut off? Disgusting. This is just one case. There are so many more. It makes your stomach turn and your heart sore. Where is the humanity?
Lest you think smuggling is a victimless crime…research the stats of the ever-increasing sex slave trade as well as indentured servants right here in the U.S. Check out how cases of Polio, Tuberculosis, and Whooping Cough are making a comeback in major U.S. “harbor” cities. See how illegal immigration has affected the health care and school systems. Janet Napolitano used to send a bill to the U.S. Government every single year because illegal immigration was costing the state of Arizona millions. It is NOT a victimless crime, folks. I lived in a border city. I know what it’s like. I have seen the faces and know the stats.
And might I add…we do not need immigration reform. We need to let law enforcement enforce the laws on the books. We do not need more laws. It seems as if our “law makers” are more interested in putting restrictions on law abiding citizens than they are actual criminals. Let police and federal agents do their jobs. And, let’s bring back the “Brasero” program. Bring back a federal program that actually worked?!?!?! That’s treason! Sigh…
It seems as if I have gone off on a tangent…but I haven’t. It’s all tied, gentle reader. It’s all intertwined and connected. Needless to say my hard-earned money will not be going to watch this travesty.
The only good drug smuggler is a dead drug smuggler. And that goes for human traffickers as well. They are all scum. May God have mercy on their souls.
